GAP YEAR PROGRAM

TRANSITIONING GIRLS TO UNIVERSITY AND BEYOND

In Kenya, every high school graduate has a gap year before they start university either in Kenya or abroad. Akili Dada runs a program during this year that provides participants, including Akili Dada alumnae, the opportunity to become job and university ready through experiential learning and intensive college preparation. The program is open to gap year students beyond Akili Dada Alumnae.

University Preparation

We focus on the application for competitive fully funded scholarship opportunities abroad.

Skills Based Learning

We empower the girls to build their skills in IT in areas such as coding apps and games, hardware and robotics, social media skills, computational and logical thinking.

Experiential Learning

The girls take part in internships, mentorship as well as outdoor leadership academies that focus on servant leadership.

Talent Exploration and Development

We provide a space for our girls to explore their talents in arts, dance, photography and sports

Life Skills

With an experienced faculty, we prepare the GAP students with essential skills that would help them to own their lives and thrive.

Paying it Forward

Our girls design and carry out community service projects that address various needs in their communities.
