 Executive Assistant

The Role of Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant will report directly to the Executive Director and will provide administrative and programmatic support to the Office of the Executive Director. They will provide the Executive Director key support in institutional communication, reporting and fundraising among others.

• Have a heart for girls’ and young women’s empowerment and your values closely align with those of Akili Dada.

• Have a background of working with adolescent girls and young adults with 2- 3 years experience.

• Possess excellent communication skills

• Are apt in technology and social media.

• Are a team player and can work with diverse groups of women.

• Is well organised, attentive to details and keeps to strict and varying deadlines.

• Are knowledgeable in practices of organization management and general administration.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Offer administrative support to the Executive Director

2. Coordination of staff and Board meetings, and support in maintaining Board relations.

3. Communication and Research support to the Executive Director.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) support to the Executive Director.

5. Support in resource mobilisation.

6. Support in external and internal communication, documentation and reporting.

7. Represent the Executive Director in key forums and meetings as requested by her from time to time.

8. Offer support selected programmes as requested by the Executive Director from time to time.

 Gap Year Program Lead

Gap Year Program Lead

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, energetic young woman who is passionate about girls and young women’s issues. This person will coordinate and run the day-to-day programmatic activities of the Gap-Year Program through which high school graduates become job and university ready.

You are a perfect fit for this job if you:

• Have a heart for girls’ and young women’s empowerment and your values closely align with those of Akili Dada.

• Have a background of working with adolescent girls and young adults with at least 2- 3 years experience.

• Have experience in helping students prepare for and apply for scholarships in universities abroad.

• Have counselling skills.

• Are creative, self-driven, energetic and motivated.

• Are a Kenyan citizen or legally allowed to work in Kenya.

• Have an eye for detail, keen on networking and is excellent in follow-ups.

• Have strong analytical skills and people development skills.

• Have the ability to be on top of issues and deliver quality work on time.

• Have a passion for storytelling with excellent writing and language skills.

• Hold at least a university degree in counseling, psychology or a related relevant field.

Roles and responsibilities

• Plan and implement various program activities.

• Closely monitor gap year students’ progress in the program.

• Provide career guidance to students in the program.

• Plan and engage the Akili Dada alumnae in various universities.

• Generate stories from Gap Year Program activities that can be shared on various platforms.

• Perform administrative functions for the program.

• Oversee monitoring and evaluation of program activities.
