Making "Back to School" Possible

Bridging the financial gap between tomorrow's leaders and quality education

Since Akili Dada was founded, it has grown from a scholarship program into a true leadership hub.  The breadth of what is offered to our scholars has increased tremendously and we see the returns on that investment in our dadas every day. Still, access to quality education remains solidly at the core of our leadership development model.

Without a strong academic foundation, our dadas would be at a significant disadvantage in qualifying for decision-making roles. We, as a society, cannot afford to let that happen. Every dada that is afforded the high school education she has so rightfully earned means there is one more woman poised to run for office, prepared to accept a board chair appointment, ready to pursue her chosen career and ultimately take up the position to drive the social change we so urgently need.

Akili Dada alumna, Josephine, is one of these young women. In this interview, she shares what education and Akili Dada means to her. As you watch, imagine how differently things could have turned out if we had missed the opportunity to bring Josephine into the Akili Dada sisterhood. Learn how you can support current Akili Dada Scholars.
