Akili Dada’s Youngest Supporter

By May 6, 2014 No Comments

We are excited to share the story of Akili Dada’s youngest supporter, Miel. At age 15, Miel has an inspiring sense of self and global community, which she’s channeling through active contributions toward a more just world.

Miel was born in India, but has since lived in China, Singapore and Kenya. In her 15 years, she’s experienced multiple societies, education systems and made friends from all over the world. As a high school student in Kenya, she turned outward and searched for ways to contribute to her new home. The mission and vision of Akili Dada resonated with her and she quickly started sharing the work with her parents’ friends back in Singapore. Over the course of a few months, Miel raised almost $4,000 to support Akili Dada’s scholarship program.

Miel has pledged to raise another $10,000 over the next year, and will be interning at Akili Dada’s office this summer to learn more about how it all works. To contribute to Miel’s campaign or learn more about starting your own, feel free to contact shea@akilidada.org.

A huge thanks to Miel for her effort and support!
